To Dianne Reynolds:
James Sprott, born 1748, died 1802, is the father-in-law of Hugh Sprott, born 1763/64 Ireland. I think Hugh (b. 1763/64) might be the son of Hugh Sprott, b. 1729, Ireland and Jane Boyd, b. Ireland. When I was in the Public Records Office, Belfast, Ireland in 1999, I found the following children listed for them:
Joseph, b. 18 Sep 1765
Henry, b. 17 Feb 1768
William, b. 28 Jan 1770
Susanna, b. 20 Feb 1772
Moses, b. 12 Sep 1775
Dave, b. 1 Jun 1780
Do you have other information about the Thomas Spratt with a will dated 1757? Were his children listed?
I have a list of Sprott marriage records of Mecklenburg Co.,NC (1788-1866) Included are:
Spratt, Margaret J. marr. Greer, Alexander 8-12-1818
Sprott, Catherine marr. Spratt, Hugh 12-27-1794
Sprott, Mary marr. Cook, Chas. 8-23-1819
Sprott, Mary marr. Greer, Alexander 5-19-1802
How did Joseph Sprott happen to be adopted by Hugh's brother Joseph? Maybe we will get our Spratts/Sprotts straightened out one of these days. I have many names of Hugh and Catherine's descendants. Some of Hugh's siblings were in New Zealand.
Thanks, Marilyn Coslett
