Hi Ruth,

James Sprott (b. Abt 1729, d. Feb. 4, 1802) & wife Catherine had a daughter, Susannah, b. abt 1784 who marr.a Thomas Greer (d.abt 1828, will posted on Mecklenburg Co.GenWeb). James & Catherine also had dau.Mary b.abt 1780 but I cannot verify their Mary married Alexander Greer. Do you have a marriage date?(James mentioned in 1802 will that Susannah was wife of Thomas Greer but did not mention husband of Mary). Could Alexander & Thomas be brothers? James & Catherine had surviving children (as per will of James): Catherine b.May 11, 1771 m.Hugh Sprott, b.1764; Thomas b.1776; Agnes b.1778; Mary b.1780; James b.1782 & Susannah b.1784. The old Thomas Spratt, d.1757 (relationship to James unknown) also had sons named James & Thomas. Its difficult to separate the two families. I believe the other Spratts buried at Steele Creek cemetery might be descendants of the old Thomas Spratt.
