Frederick Springett
I am trying to trace a Frederick Springett born circa 1890? died circa 1950? a batchelor who lived somewhere around either Beckley (most likely) or Eastbourne, legend says he was a tailor specialising in 'riding habits'. close enough a relative to the Beckley Springetts to be received as 'family' - who was his father?

I am making an attempt to sort out the Sussex/Kent Springetts between 1730 and 1830 by creating a new 'tree' and fitting everybody in from 1528 to 1900 wherever they will go, however flimsy their details in the IGI and elsewhere - there are several hundred of them! but some sort of crazy sense is beginning to appear, it looks like very odd inheritances of properties. meaning that direct family descent at a particular property did not always take place, but moved to distant cousins - if you follow me!
there seems to have been joint family farming (or more than one farm) at Plumpton, Ringmer and Hawkhurst and single family farms at Beckley, Lamberhurst, Pembury, Wittersham, Goudhurst, Tonbridge , Hurst Green , Frant etc. there seems to have been a closer link between 'Hawkhurst' and 'Ringmer' from 1520s to about 1800? than the others - does anyone know why?
