The Will and Testament of Christopher Spray
(Note: The following is written on back of will)
"Christopher Sprays will Prov'd Octr, 2, 1739 recorded No. 636"
"I Christopher Spray of Darby in the county of Chester and Province of Pennsylvania yeoman being mild full of Mortality and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die Do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament in Manner and form following That is to Say First and Principally I Recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my Body I commit to the Earth to Be Buried in a Christian Like manner at the Discretion of my Executors hereafter named And as touching Such Temporall Estate as it hath pleased god to Bestow upon me in this Life I give and Dispose thereof as followeth---
Imprimus my will and mind is that all my Just Debts and funerall Expenses be first payed and Discharged by my Executors---
Item I give and Bequeath to my Beloved wife Sarah one Bed with Bedding to it one Iron pott and one Iron kettle and one Brass kettle and Two Cows and Six Sheep--and all the remaining part of my personall Estate my will in Shall Be Sold by my Executors and the money arising from the Sale of the Same to Be Imployed for the maintanance of my wife at the Discretion of my Executors and as for all my Reall Estate I Dispose of all followeth--I give to my Said wife all my Lands Together with my Buildings and Improvements that lyeth on the west Side of the Layed out Road that Runs through my Land to Havorford for her use During her Naturall Life as she Thinks fit to Dwell upon it. And the Remaining part of my Plantation my will is Shall Be rented out by my Executors with these Restrictions that as the feilds are now Located they Shall not Be above one halfe a feild tilled in one year the profits of which my will is Shall go towards my Wives Maintenance and my will is that if my Wife Should Remove her habitation of the Said premises as aforesaid that then all my Lands Shall Be Sold and my wife allowed A maintanance out of it During her Naturall Life and after Be Equally Divided amongst my Children Thomas, Mary, Jane, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Phebe and my Grand son James Spray. and I Constitute and appoint my Trusty friends Samuel Lewis of Havorford and Abraham Lewis of Darby Yeomans to Be Executors of this my Last will and Testament hereby Revoking all former Wils and Testaments By me made Do Ratifie and Confirm this and only this and no other to Be my Last will and Testament Signed Sealed published and Declared by Christopher Spray the Testator to be his Last will and Testament this Seventeenth Day of January in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Thirty Seven.

their understandings.
