In the 1850 census for Waterford, Washington Co., Ohio there is listed a William Sprague b. ca. 1796 Ohio, wife Alpha b. ca. 1814 Vermont and their children. The family appears in 1860 in Clearcreek, Fairfield Co., Ohio and the widow Alpha is in 1880 in McLeansboro, Hamilton Co., Illinois. My question is - where does this William fit into the family of Major Joshua Sprague who helped to settle Washington Co., Ohio??? Could he be the son of Joshua Sprague's son Samuel Sprague? Sources cite the son of Samuel Sprague as William b. 12 Oct 1800 Ohio m. 1820 Mary Conkle. Perhaps Alpha was a second wife??? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
