John:

Am so apologetic for not giving you a reply sooner. Since my last correspodence with all on this list,
I have built a house, moved, am still unpacking, gone back to college, and have given several lectures and am in process of teaching a class in beginning genealogy--am in the fourth class of eight. Whew!! I think I had better slow down and realize that I am no spring chicken anymore. Oh, well! It is all still fun so I guess I am stuck with me.

Anyhow, I am unable to help you in your endeavors. When I first started chasing those elusive Splawns twenty-two years ago, I did not even know that Splawns existed outside of North Carolina, Rutherford County, that is. In all of my reserach I vaguely remember that there was a Mayberry but I have no info on him.

I have started a book on my line of Splawns, which has been on the back burner through all of this. I hope to travel to Rutherford County in the near future to further my cause.

Jane
