William Spitler- Stark Co - descendants proven
Located proof of the children of William Spitler of Jackson Township, Stark County, Ohio who died Nov 1820 in a house fire.
Petition to Partition filed by Simon Spitler in Stark County, Ohio 23 Jan 1823 and published in "The Ohio Repository".Simon Spitler filed the petition against William Spitler [ who I knew from a Stark Co., OH deed WAS a son of William [Sr]], John Spitler, Samuel Spitler, Joseph Spitler and Thomas Spiller and his wife Susannah. These would have been the heirs of William Sr.The petition states that some of the defendants were not residing in Ohio.
Son John Spitler was residing in Huntingdon County, Pa.
Son Joseph was residing in Canada
Son William later resided in Ashland County, Ohio
Son Simon was residing with Martin Troxall in Wayne County, Ohio in 1850.
Sons Simon and John were married to Paulus girls, daughters of Daniel Paulus of Huntingdon County, PA. [ Huntingdon County, PA Deeds for proof]
Cannot connect William to any known Spitler who can to U.S. so believe he was born in U.S. about 1740 [ inquest records listed his age as about 80 years in 1820].
Any input would be helpful.Suzy
