My G-Grandmother's name was Annie Lee Spires. She was my mom's grandmother. She died in 1997 at the age of 97. She was married to Eugene Spires, who had died some yrs earlier. She lived in Wagener, S.C. and later in Aiken. She died in Richmond County, Georgia. They had 5 children together: Claude E. Spires, Ruby Lee Spires Hellyar, Mary Ellen Snyder, Audrey Stacy, Betty Wylie. Three generations on my mom's side have been born in S.C. and have stayed in the same general area all their lives. I was told the Spires were Irish, But I can't find any information to verify that. If anyone has any info on who Eugene's parents were, I'd really appreciate it. So far I've found this forum so helpful.Thank you:-)
