HI, Martha,

I am so excited! I have wondered for YEARS why Jacob Spindler named his house "Candle." Nothing ever made sense until just now! The email you sent says in their marriage certificate that his wife Elizabeth was from a place called Neider Kandel. There's my answer! Kandel. His first and smaller piece of land was patented as "Alcase" and his second, which encompassed the first was patented as "Kandel," which in English ends up being spelled "Candle."

You have solved a twenty plus year mystery! Thank you! More next week.

Best, Susan
