I know you're not doing research on the May line but we have something in common. My gggggrandfather James May came from England on the Justita in 1771 or 1772 under the alias of Emanuel Mills and I was wandering if you have more specific information on the Justitia passenger lists and points of departure and arrive for this time frame. Below is summary of the information I have on may relative James.
I'm doing research on the MAY family line that I have traced back to England. The person I'm really trying to find information on is James May he was supposedly born in England maybe Cornwall County. He was born about 1740. He was sentenced for an unknown reason and sent to America on a Prison ship in 1771 called the JUSTITIA. He may have landed in Baltimore, MD. He used an alias of Emmanuel Mills during this time in the information I have. He later moved to VA and married a Elizabeth Betsy King of NC. They had six children: Daniel, David, Charolotte, John, William, and Gideon. James later died in Pike County, KY. I am a descendant from William " Billy" C May thru Alexander May, thru Reece or Reason May, thru Jesse May, and my Father Leonard E. May Sr. Most of the family is or was concentrated in Eastern KY mainly Pike County. If you have information on this line will you please share. I live in Nebraska and coming to KY and VA areas are not possible. So if you have any information on this line or can provide copies of pictures or other public records it would be greatly appreciated. I will provide more clarifying information if required to establish a relation. Thanks for your help in advance.
