I'm editing the correspondence of Sir Philip Sidney (1554-86), and in a letter to his father's secretary Edward Waterhouse in Ireland he sends greetings to "my Cosin Spilman", i.e. one Margaret Spilman of Kent, who was (or was shortly to become) Waterhouse's second wife. Can anyone enlighten me as to this Margaret's dates and her family?
(The word "Cosin" was often used loosely, but Sidney is usually precise, and it would mean at least a distant relative, even if only by marriage.) I know about the Spilman/Spelmans of Narborough, but not those of Kent.
