Sir John SPILMAN family

Dear List,
I hope someone here can help me connect with the correct Spilman family.

From the visitations of Gloucester:

Sir John SPILMAN, Knight, married ?, daughter of Sir William MANCILL [MAUNCELL], Knight, "wth whome he had lands in Strood [although there is a Strood, Kent, I am certain this refers to Stroud, Gloucester].

Sir John and ? Mancill SPILMAN had son Nicholas SPILMAN, who had son Thomas SPILMAN of SPILMANS Court in Rodborough in the Parish of Minchinghampton [this is a "suburb" of Stroud].

Thomas SPILMAN'S daughter & co-heir, Margaret, married William PAYNE of Rodborough, Gloucester and had son William PAYNE, Jr., "of Rodborough who sealed a deed dated 40 (41) E. 4 (the 40th year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I- or about 1600) with the seal of his Armes."

William PAYNE, Jr. had a son Thomas PAYNE who married Catherin, "daughter of John MORDEY [MOODY- according the official record in the College of Arms] of Gerson [GARSON] in county WILTS., Esq."

Does this SPILMAN family ring any bells?

I'm fairly confident that I know this PAYNE family, but need some additional data to confirm it.

Please contact me if you know anything about this family and let's compare notes!

Regards,

Patrick Payne
