Spies family in South Dakota and Iowa

My wife and I are trying to obtain info on her father's side of the family. We have very little info. Her father is Lloyd Charles Spies. He was born abt 1916 in South Dakota and died on 6/11/1988 in Defiance, Ohio. He married Dora Marie Boehm. She was born on 6/9/1907 in Defiance County, Ohio and died on 5/14/1999. They are both buried in Definance, Ohio. His father was Michael F. Spies. He was born abt 1889 in Duboque, Iowa and died in 10/1942. He married Freda Kulow. She was also born abt 1889 in Dubuque, Iowa and died 1/18/1953.

That is all the info we have and any help will be greatly appreciated.
