Family talk is that a boy by the name of Spier/Speer/Spear was one of the few survivors of a cattle boat from Ireland that wrecked in/around NYC/NJ. Time frame before 1816. That boy was taken in by a Dutch family named VanZile/VanZyle/ VanZeyl and his name was changed to theirs. He is in my family line of VanZiles from NJ and NY but I can't seem to find any info on this. Can anyone help? E-mail me with VanZile geneology in subject line - aptjjb270@aol.com Notify Administrator about this message?
