Hi, I made a hobby out of tracking ALL people with the name Spiering. My information is that the very first person to use 'Spiering' as last name is a 'Wouter Spiering'(1170-1209). He was the son of Jan van Heusden, Lord of Altena and Spierinck. This places the origin of the name in Holland, in the town of Heusden.
