Susan Spencer Dotson was born in Lee County, VA., in 1808. There were Spencer families in this area about the same time period. I am trying to find the parents of Susan Spencer Dotson and am wondering if pehaps a female Spencer married a Dotson male - or perhaps the two families were merely friends and there is no blood connection.
Another member of the Dotson family was John Spencer Dotson, probaably born 1840s, who served in the Civil War. Again, I'm wondering if there was a blood connection between the Dotson and Spencer families.
Susan Spencer Dotson married Brooks Randolph (b. 1808) in Lee County, VA, 1824. In 1830 a group of Randolphs, Dotsons and others left Lee County and settled in Logan County, IL.
Susan is in my direct line of ancestors - she died in Logan Co., IL. in 1846.
