Since I posted the previous message last year, I've found several online sources and databases that say Orin Spencer had an older brother Daniel, and that their father was "Daniel" Spencer.Interestingly enough, early Luzerne County newspapers have several references to "Daniel Spencer" of Kingston Twp., but only one reference to a "David Spencer" of Kingston Twp.However, the newspapers also have four references to a "Daniel D. Spencer," associated with the locales of Providence and Kingston in Luzerne County.Does that middle initial stand for "David"?Was Orin's father actually named Daniel David Spencer.
I've also looked online for references to revolutionary war veterans named David Spencer -- no luck -- and Daniel Spencer -- and have found two such individuals, though one of them is definitely not the Daniel Spencer of Luzerne County and the other (he whose daguerrotype is featured and discussed at several sites) who is almost certainly not the Daniel Spencer of Luzerne.
