A link between your Elizabeth and the Quaker Spencers is exceedingly doubtful. The descendants of John Spencer in this timeframe are all known, and there's no stray who might have ended up in southern Virginia. For that matter, I would ask to review your concept that this Elizabeth was born around 1720 in Pittsylvania County, Va.Not only does that year predate the formation of Pittsylvania County by more than a generation, but I really do not think that there were any white people living in what became Pittsylvania at that early date, or if there were, then they were very few in number. As of 1720 places like Goochland County were still the frontier.
Some Quakers ventured into places like Bedford and Campbell Counties, Virginia, as well as Orange County and other parts of western North Carolina, later in the century, but not the Quaker Spencers as such to my knowledge.I would suspect that your Elizabeth's family likely came from one of the "burned" counties like Hanover or King & Queen, and that's why you have had trouble finding her pre-Albemarle roots. My sympathies... I have other lines in those places myself.
