SPENCER DNA TESTING
I would encourage anyone hitting a brick wall in their Spencer research to consider the Spencer DNA test thru the Spencer Historical Society. It could match you to a Spencer line and give you a new place to do your research. My line recently submitted DNA for the test, as yet waiting for information from one person we had a close match to. Our James Spencer b. 23 July 1764 possibly MD. d. 20 June 1837 in Parke co. IN. m. Mary Ann Gott on 29 Nov. 1785 in Anne Arundel Co., MD. in St. James Parish. His brother Philemon m. Mary Carter in St. James Parish in 15 Sept. 1786. Philemon died in Fleming Co., Ky 1805. James also had a bro William b. aft 1751. Probably close to 1762. Mary Gotts family, Richard Gott and Eleanor Norris, moved from AA Co. in 1790 to Montgomery Co., Md. near Poolesville. James, William, and Philemon and families moved to Mason Co./Fleming Co. Ky in 1795.We know James and Mary lived in Loudoun Co. Va. in 1794 as he was in the VA. Militia that year. Their three oldest sons likely born in Va. A granddaughter of James wrote in mid 1800's that her father Charles, b. 1788 was born near Harpers Ferry, and at that time that area was in VA. Just before the Civil War, that area became part of West Virginia. The census in three diff areas give John b. 1793 as born in VA. In 1834 the Spencers moved to Parke Co. Indiana. And from there, descendants have spread out to Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Washington State, etc.Anyone who would like info contact [email protected] or myself, at [email protected]
