George Spencer, fl 1740's&1750's, NYC
Looking for life details, vitals, etc for one George Spencer, who flourished in New York City in the middle 18th century. Known facts:
* He lived on Broadway.
* Was a wine merchant, and occasionally travelled as a supercargo as a young man on voyages to the Wine Islands (Madeira, &c.).
* On 2 November 1759, he was publicly humiliated on the streets of NYC for having turned informer against a small group of merchants trading with the French during the Seven Years' War.
* He was subsequently jailed in NYC for two years on trumped-up charges just to get him out of the way.
Perhaps married one Florida Pintard, 13 June 1738
Does anyone recognize this character?
