Several questions are raised here.
.How is the suit reported? Was she executrix or administratrix?Generally, the widow was given first opportunity to act as administratrix, or the children could do so.Unless specifically stated in the court record, Lucy could be widow, daughter, or even sister of Abraham Spencer.
.What was the nature of the suit? For debt?In Case?Other particulars?
.Susanna was born on or before 5 Sep 1702.She had married Abraham Spencer at some time between 5 Sep 1723 and 3 Jul 1735.The land sold on that date to Joseph Terrell was part of land granted to Susanna Sharpe.
.There was a younger Abraham Spencer in Hanover County who made purchases from a merchant on three occasions in 1756, noted as "Abraham Spencer junr."Thus it is necessary to determine which Abraham is referred to in connection with Lucy. The fact that "junr" was used in 1756 means that both of them were alive at the time.
.Lucy was head of household in 1790.If she had been married to the younger Abraham that would make sense.Research done by Carolyn Swogger states that Abraham Spencer, son of Abraham, was born abt. 1730, and died in LOUISA County in 1761.He married Lucy Dickinson. She later married Matthew Cox.
