Me again.I am close (I THINK) to being able to link my lineage, but need one piece to tie it all together.
First, for those who have been at this Spencer genealogy stuff for awhile, is the family tree on this website fairly close?

If so, I believe my lineage goes:
1. Oliver 1611-?
2. Alexander Sr. 1646-1710
3. Alexander Jr. 1671-1735
4. William David 1706-1775
5. Joseph Charles 1738-1837 (I have seen a range of other birth years)
6. John Spencer 1769-1853
7. James Spencer 1792-1850
8. John Spencer 1815-?
9. Allen Spencer 1842-?
---------------------------------------------
Now here's where I need help.
As I wrote in previous posts, I found positive info on my grandfather (Cassius) and possible info on my great grandfather (John).
In this forum, message #789 mentionedan "Allen Spencer" that was born in 1842 and the son of a "John Spencer."This matches with the Oliver lineage above. The message further states that Allen's first child was born in 1866 in Wolfe Co.The John Spencer I think to be my great-grandfather died in 1952 at the age of 86; thus, making his year of birth 1866.A match!Looking at the family tree, there is a pattern of naming a son after the father's father. So it seems plausible that Allen would have named his son after his own father. If my speculation is correct, my lineage would continue as:
---------------------------------------------
10. John Spencer 1866-1952
11. Cassius Spencer 1895-1930
12. Earl Spencer 1923-1987
13. ME! 1963- still going strong!
Have I got it right?
