I guess there is not tie with my Ephraim Smith who possibly lived in Loudoun, then SC, then Preble Co., Ohio, where he died.

Spence was also a common name in the Pasquotank/Camden area of NC in the 1700s and 1800s; probably still many there. I had ancestors in that area and come across the Spence name frequently. Some of them had come from Talbot Co., MD.
