Found a note in info I have, not much. Just says:

John P. Speir, born 1783 in Robeson Co., NC; died 1855.

Don't know if this is ur Spier/Speir's father, but it's possible considering the dates.

John P.'s father was Harris Speir born Bet. 1758 - 1760, and died Oct 15, 1799 in Southhampton Co., Virginia. He married Ann Shaw b. 1763. Comment: Murdered by slave(s), Marriages and Deaths, 1763-1820 [Extant GA Newspapers]- Warren Religion 1: 1794, Powelton Baptist Church, Hancock Co., GA
Religion 2: Bef. 1794, Saddle Downing Church, NC Residence: 1787, Robeson Co., NC
