I believe the William Speir listed in the 1786 partial Pitt County, NC, census was the William Spier who went to Georgia also in 1786. I believe he was the father of Moore and Willis Spier. William and Ann Spears (spelling in church records)were charter members of Powell's Creek Baptist Church located in the part of Greene County which became Hancock County. Both William and Ann joined Powell's Creek on July 1, 1786. Moore Spears (Spier) joined July 3, 1791, by experience.
Moore Spier died in 1802, in Effingham County, Georgia. His brother Willis wrote his will in 1811, and it was probated in 1817, in Effingham County, Georgia. I do not know when or where William Spier died. I hope someone will post that information.
