David Spaight about 1835-1863

Hello! I am a Speight from the Norfolk/Chesapeake, VA area with roots in North Carolina. I am trying to find information on David Spaight/Speight, born around 1835.

If my research is correct, his wife's name was Fannie/Fanny and he fathered three children, William Walker (or Walker William,) Mary E. and David Anna (Annie.) William and Mary (LOL!) may have been twins. I believe that William is my great-grandfather.

I am led to believe that this is the same David Spaight that was killed in battle in Richmond in 1863, the same year that daughter, David Anna, would have been born. He was with the VA 41st Infantry.

I can find no record of his parents and a possible residency record when he was a teenager, but not living with other family members. I did find record of another David Spaight who married Penny Harrell in North Carolina in 1825, which would have been approximately the right time frame for these people to be his parents, but I can't make a connection.

If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Phyllis Kay Speight
daughter of Phillip Gordon Speight
granddaughter of John Presley Speight
