I am seeking information about Susan S. Speed who married Wm. Dicus in Missouri. My great great grandparents were Susan S. Speed and Edward Dicus of Missouri and Iowa. I believe these two are the same, but do not understand why he is listed in the Speed book as Wm or William. I found their marriage certificate in Jefferson Co., MO in 1847 and he is listed as Edward. I also found him in the Iowa 1850 census listed as Edward. Their daughter Mary had a son named John that was adopted by the Foxton family in Missouri. I believe they are all connected someway. Do you have any suggestions on where I could find more information. If I can prove this line, I would like to do a DAR supplemental paper on Lewis Speed and John Speed, Sr.
