Specht, Porter in Digby, Nova Scotia

I am researching the Porters of Digby County, Nova Scotia, in particular the marriage of Sarah PORTER (1796-1889) to Anthony Christopher SPECHT (b. 1796) on June 25, 1817 in Digby Co.
The couple produced two children that I know of:
(1) Asa Porter
(2) Jonas Marr Porter (b. Jan. 26, 1819)
According to a pamphlet on the Spechts at the Admiral Digby Museum in Digby, this marriage dissolved (or so it appears) and Sarah took the boys to live with her father. They kept the Porter name, although I have seen one reference to Asa Porter-Specht.
Anthony Christopher Specht supposedly later married Margaret Sophia THURBER (c. 1808-1846) at Weymouth in 1828.
Does anyone have any info on the Porter-Specht marriage, or how Anthony ended up married again (divorce seems a rare thing back then.) Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance
