I don't have a lot back that far, but I have John Spears b. bet. 1784-85 d. aft. 1850 married to Catherine Peyton, b. bet. 1787-88 d. aft 1850. Both supposedly died in Logan County.

She was the daughter of William Peyton and Nancy Howard. She had at least two brothers, Jonathan, b. abt. 1776/77 and Henry, b. April 8, 1794 (?) supposedly in the Barboursville area (then in Kanawha County).

John's father was supposed to be Peter Spears, b. abt 1760 in Virginia and died after 1840 in Lawrence Co., Ohio. His mother was Unknown. Or at least I don't have a name. Brothers and sisters are listed as James, Elizabeth, Susanna, Jonathan, Charles, George, Henry, Paul, Peter, William, Rosannah and one unknown.

Peter's father is listed as Thomas Speer, b. bef. 1738 in Somerset Co., Maryland and died bef. December 2, 1796 in Surry Co., North Carolina. If this is correct, research may be needed in these states. His mother is listed as Rebecca Estep, born about 1738. There being several Esteps in Lincoln Co., there may be a link between her family and the ones here in WV. There is a brother named Spencer Spears noted who may be older than Peter. I haven't had the opportunity to further research or verify this information yet, so I can't vouch for its accuracy.

John and Catherine's children were: Nancy, William, Preston, Benjamin, Henry Peyton and Harmon.

Nancy married Hezekiah Adkins and had a large family. William Spears married Sarah Peyton. I only have one son, Wiley, listed for them. Preston married (1) Elizabeth Haskins and (2) Elizabeth Fry. Henry Peyton married Telitha Ann Fry (I believe Elizabeth's sister). They are my GGG Grandparents. I don't have spouses or children for Benjamin and Harmon. And there is a long list of descendants for most of these children. It actually gets harder to find relatives in the later generations since they have scattered so much.

I'm afraid I don't have any more info on the Walls family than what I have given you and nothing on the Nelsons. I hope what I've posted will help you out. Like I said, I can't verify every piece, especially the earliest stuff.

Bob
