Uniform of Soldier

I have a black "blouse" which belong to my late husband's grandfather who served in the Spanish American War. I would like to know what the trim and symbols mean. There are two white stripes on each sleeve [time of service?]; red and white braid around the neck and on each sleeve; plus a symbol which looks like a red castle on the right sleeve [unit he served in?]. Would appreciate any help on this.
Yvonne
