Thank you so, so much for the help. The death certificate link was wonderful.. I have been all over ancestry searching. I am having trouble with another grandfather, I know he existed because I'm here...haha. Looks like I am going to have to plan a day trip to Virginia this summer since I can't find anything online.

The George that was mentioned in the obit is my grandfather. I know Nick's dad's name was Samuel from him. Sibling info is also correct. Guess they just got a few things wrong.

One thing I don't understand is why I can't find Nick Joe listed on any rosters for the SpAm war? Do you think the American Legion cemetary where he is buried can help? I would love to kow how long he was in and where he fought.
