Athens was the town and Limestone was the county. The community that they lived in was on the Limestone/Lauderdale county line. That has always caused alot of confusion. We lived on the Limestone side but had a Lauderdale address. Limestone thought we were in Lauderdale and Lauderdale knew we where in Limestone. This really showed up in the census. It just didn't get done alot because each county thought the other had done it. It was the 1880 census I was looking at. Viola (WE's future wife) was living with her parents David and Sallie Owens.
