1st washington volunteer infantry
I am looking for any information on the 1st washington(state) volunteer infantry. Especially a man named Capt. George h. Fortson; He was killed at the battle of paquig; in the philipines in late 1800's. Fortson square in Seattle is named in his honor. There was a small lumber mill town just west of Darrington Wa. named Fortson. I was told by the U.W. That it was named by Royal Lampsom sr.; in honor of Capt. Fortson. Any information on the wa. 1st, or Capt. Fortson would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you;
Leah
