1st Regiment of U.S. Cavalry, Troop M,
My grandfather, Harry C. Lewis, joined the Army November 1901 at Kansas City, Missouri. He was in the1st Regiment of U.S. Cavalry, Troop M.--I have been unable to find information on this regiment.I believe there is a 1st Volunteer Cavalry, but I think he was in the regular Army. He received a pension and on the pension declaration it says War with Spain, Philippine Insurrection and China Relief Espedition--also with the pension papers there is a letter from the Congress of the US that stated he served in Troop M, 1st Regiment of U.S. Cavalry, Spanish American War. There is a family story about him being on a ship and a boiler blowing-up and his eyes were injured.
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, [email protected]
