Motorcycle messenger - Delbruegge

Grandfather, Bernard Heinrich Delbruegge (also known as Henry Dellbringge) was a motorcycle messenger in the Spanish American War. He would have been a member of a St. Louis, Missouri unit. I have heard that he was in Cuba. I have looked through various army military rosters of that period, but can not locate him. How do I go about finding out what regiment he was in? Only other clue has to do with a red color on his uniform or badge perhaps. Suggestions please to delbring@networkusa.net
