On the East side of the Little Sequatchee River, the second homestead belonged to Pete Spangler, who lived to be a very old man, and was said to be a very prominent figure at all circuit courts back in the middle 80's (1880's).There was a brother, John, of Uncle Pete Spangler, who years back could be seen at Francis spring on most every Sunday Evening.
It is sad to relate the death of a young man, "Little John" Spangler, which occured in this Spangler home.A son of Uncle Pete Spangler, he was killed by lightning while at a shooting match.
pg 32.In this little Mt. Parnassus community now being discussed, some sixty years back was Pete Spangler and wife, and in this home were three girls, of whom I can only recall one girl, Mattie. These three girls became the wives of the following young men, Bud Browning, Ephriam Turner, and Monroe Giffith (Griffith?).The boys in this household were Wiley and Little John. There was in this home of Uncle Pete Spangler, a bachelor brother whose name was John.
