I don't find any Ontario Co, NY record dated 1831 in my files. Could it have been the deed dated 3 may 1833? The librarians at the Ontario Co. facility bring out the microfilm--no browsing through their files. Another possibility is that it wasn't recorded in the deeds books, but rather in the court orders. I know that in VA, release of dower records are usually found in the court orders books.

I also puzzled over the Zachariahs, and the deeds don't make it clear which one was which. I don't think I ever figured them out. I found enough in Ontario Co. to be able to eliminate them as my **direct** ancestors, although I can't rule them out as related to my line.
