Wish I had run across this a long time ago. As far as I can tell, the problem tracing the Spangenbergs seems to be because its a large family.

I'm chasing my high school sweetheart, who happens to be a Spangenberg. When we were kids, I was told that we were third-cousins, something that I have found not to be true.

I haven't found any connection through my side of the family, but then documentation on the wives' side is a bit slim. So I thought I'd look through her side of the family.

Her father and grandfather lived in Susquehanna, PA (and are buried there). But yet she was born in Steuben County in NY and grew up in Canisteo.

Her father's name is Herbert and his father was John. She's the youngest of 11 children.
