Mendia /Lezama/Escobedo

I am looking for any information on a Mendia family from San Sebastian, Spain who emigrated to Mexico on a ship in 1946. On the trip there were 2 small children, Carlos born 2 July 1946 and his older brother. I don't know the parents names. Apparently on the trip over, both parents died and the nanny took the children and hide them in the church in Mexico. The children took on the nanny's name which was Escobedo and her husband was Lezama.
I am trying to help this family find their roots in Spain. Carlos Lezama Escobedo died in Toluca, Mx in 2001 and his brother as well later. Any information would be appreciated. I don't speak, read or write Spanish but the family looking does and they live in Toluca as well as Cabo San Lucas. Thanks
