To start looking for the history and lines of Juan Sebastian Elcano try starting in a town called Getaria (or Guetaria) in the province of Guipuzcoa (or Gipuzkoa) in the Basque Country in Spain. He was from there and is basically a local hero. My family is from San Sebastian, Gipuzkoa and we have a picture somewhere of my sister posing with the statue. The Basque people are very proud of the fact that it was Elcano who really completed the first trip around the world!
