spanish twins

My great great grandfather was brought to America with his twin brother sometime between 1820 and 1840. The story that was passed down from my great grandmother is that their parents were assassinated and they were smuggled out of
Spain and adopted by families in America. I'm trying to find out who their parents were in Spain. Since my great grandmother was in her right mind and wasn't known to tell tales, the family doesn't have any reason not to believe this story. Their changed names were Andrew and possibly Charles. Charles named his children Charles and Louisa. Any help would be appreciated.
