For thousands of hispanics in the state of New Mexico,USA, the following ancestors are among the primary progenitors from "las Islas Canarias".
We would like to find out more about these ancestors by getting information as to who their parents and grandparents were. We know that Mara Betancur is descended from the Bethencourt's (Jean de Bethencourt) who were among the original conquerers, but without more information about her family, we cannot make the connection.
Is Pedro de VERA PERDOMO related to Pedro de Vera Mendoza and his son Francisco de Vera Mendoza, both of the Canary Islands?
Perhaps someone who lives in the Canary Islands can assist us in learning more about these important ancestors of so many people here in New Mexico.
Our familia:
Hernn Martn BAENA, b. 1523 in Jerez de los caballeros,Ovieda, Espaa, married Catalina GARCA, b. 1527 in La Laguna, Tenerife, CI. They had: Pedro de VERA PERDOMO, b. 1558 in La Laguna, Tenerife, CI.
He married doa Mara PREZ DE BETANCUR, b. ca. 1560 in La Laguna, Tenerife, CI. She was the daughter of Antonio PREZ, b. 1527 in La Graciosa, Tenerife, CI, & Catalina APONTE, b. 1531 in Garachico, CI.
Pedro RUZ, b. 1545 in La Palma, CI, fathered Juan RUZ CACERES, b. 1570 in La Laguna, Tenerife, CI.
______________
The PERDOMO name in las Islas Canarias:

Jean Arriete Prudhomme (AKA Jean Arriete Perdomo in Spanish) is the prognitor of the Perdomo name in the Canary Islands. He married Ins Margarida de BETHENCOURT (Maciot8, Regnault7, Jean6, Jean5, Jean4, Regnault3, Philippe2, Jean1); born illegitimate circa 1420 in the Canary Islands.

She was also known as Leonor de Bethencourt. She and Jean Arriete Prud'homme were the ancestors of the Bethencourts of the Canary Islands (Lanzarote). She left a will on 4 Jun 1480 in her husband's house in Arrieta, Lanzarote.

Jean Arriete PRUD'HOMME was also known as Jean Arriete Pordomo. He was also known as Jean Arriete Prodomo. He was also known as Jean Arriete Perdomo. He was born circa 1420 in France. He was a French nobleman and companion of Jean de Bethencourt. He gave his name to a village on the island of Lanzarote - Arrieta - where he lived and built his house.

Children of Ins Margarida de Bethencourt and Jean Arriete Prud'homme all born in Arrieta, Lanzarote, were as follows:

Doa Elvira de BETHENCOURT; born after 1450; married Jean Mlian, son of Jean Mlian and Catherine Boulanger.

She and Jean Mlian formed the beginnings of he house of the Mlian de Bethencourts.

* Margarida BETHENCOURT; born after 1450.
* Ins BETHENCOURT; born circa 1455.
* Miguel BETHENCOURT; born circa 1455.
* MARTNho BETHENCOURT; born circa 1455.
* Guilherme BETHENCOURT; born circa 1455.

The Bethencourt name has several derivations; especially in the Canary Islands; Betancourt, Betancur, Betancurt, Betancor, Vetanco, and Bettencourt. The Betancur surname is very common in the Canary Islands as is Perdomo and de Vera.

If anyone has anymore information about these families; especially how they tie into Pedro de Vera Perdomo, his wife, Maria Perez de Betancur or their parents, please share information with us.

Muchas Gracas!
