COCA family of masons- SPAIN to ITALY
Posted by: Laura L Date: April 15, 2000 at 14:03:59

Please assist...My ancestor Martino Coca came to Muro Lucano, Italy in 1680 from Lombardia, Italy and prior to that the family came from Spain. He was a stone mason who built cathedrals and many Coca's continue in this profession today. I have not been able to find a town or records to trace this family in Lombardia before 1680. They were all stone masons. I have been in contact with a few Coca's in Spain but have not determined which family is ours. Is there a guild or organization of stone masons with historical records in Spain? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Laura L
