Margaret (Callian) Spaeth & George J. Spaeth
After a lingering and painful illness of several months, on January 30, 1898, Margaret Callian Spaeth died, at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 5 days. She was born in Baden, Germany, August 25, 1836. With her father and mother, she came in the year 1853 to Sandusky, Ohio. In 1855 she migrated with the family of Owen Kellogg to Garden Grove, Iowa. September 21, 1861, she was married to George J. Spaeth, who survives her. Two children were born to this union-Lucy, wife of Lew Chase of High Point, Iowa, and Alfred Spaeth, unmarried, residing in Montana.
The faithful wife and mother was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church till she removed beyond the reach of its services; but she never relinquished her hope in God, her Savior.
Funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian Church, January 31, by the Reverend H. Quickenden.
