Sowards/Seward in Tazwell Co., IL

I also am at a dead end!! I have a William Sewards born about 1805 in OH or VA. He was married to Sarah Mullen, who was born in OH. They had several children.......Andrew Farnham Sowards, my gggrandfather, who was born Feb.15 1840 in Tazwell Co., IL, Issac, Perry, Marion, William, Ira and Lewis.

Andrew Farnham Sowards married Mary Margaret Baker and had.......Florence (Flora), William, Jenny, Mary, Hattie, John and Mae.

Florence married Andrew V. Wolpert. and had....Cecel, Walter, Vera, Grace and Violet.

They appear to have come from Chillicothe, OH area and then settled in the Spring Bay area of Tazwell Co.

Andrew F. Sowards supposedly changed his name from Seward, because of a clerks error with the Union Army in the Civil War. He later died from complication of Black Water Fever he contacted at the battle of Vicksburg?

Would love to exchange information with anyone that can shed some more light on the subject.
