“In 1861 to 1862 I lived in Orleans Fauquier Co., from Jan. 1862 to Nov. 1862 I lived in Warrenton, Fauquier Co., from 1862 to 1865 I lived at Carter’s Run, farming 75 acres of rented land, late part of the war, I was in Alexandria, working as Quartermaster, for the Federal Government under Capt. Lee. In 1861 and 1862 the Confederate Army threatened to hang me.”
