I was wondering if you had information on 2 members of my family who we know served in the civil war.
The first is:
Abraham Marion, Junior.
I know that he enlisted in Circleville, Kansas. And he enlisted as Abraham Marion (no Junior on his name). His enlistment says he served in the following:
Enlisted in Company A, 5th Cavalry Regiment Kansas on 4 Aug 1861
The second member I am looking for, and the most mysterious one is:
Solomon is a bit trickier. We are not sure if his first name was Solomon or not. We do know that he did go by this though. We know that at the time of enlistment he was residing in Crawford, Missouri. We also know that he did die while in battle.
The only information we have about the company he may have served in, has been given to us by handed down family stories. Supposedly he was sent to Ft. Sill, Kansas. There he served on the Union side in the Illinois branch of the Calvary. We have been told that he was a Captain. He is also said to have been the tallest soldier there at about 6'6" tall. Finally, it has been said that he should be buried around Saint Joseph, Missouri.
As I said before all this information has been passed down from family members, so we are kind of driving blindly in the dark here. My mother and I have not been able to link any military enlistment records to him because of lack of parents names, etc. We do know that his wife's name was Emily Jane Ealy and he had one child, a son, by the name of John Thomas Allen.
Any information you might be able to give us would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
