Thanks for your response.All I know is what I put in the query.(Wish I had more)His widow, Mary, applied for the pension and that information was on the papers I received from the National Archives.They had another William A. Crane, but he was with the 10th Tn. Inf., Co. K and when I got his papers he was not mine.
We have been searching for information on him for 30 years.I did find a suit filed in Sumner County, Tennesse against Mary for non-payment on land and it showed he had died in 1862.The family story was that he had sent his family back to Hart County, Kentucky for safety.This is where Mary was when she applied for a pension.I don't think she ever received it.
