There is an excellent book about the subject you are interested in which has a chapter about the Blalocks. They were called "The Bonnie and Clyde of Watauga County". The book is "Bushwhackers, The Civil War in North Carolina Mountains." by William R. Trotter. It should be in your library and was in stock at Barnes And Noble around the first of this year. They should have some copies left.
