Hello Don and Kathleen,

According to the NPS Soldier's and Sailor's site, there is listed a Daniel Foster with the 1st Tenn Inf. USA Co. B
You may wish to check the National Archives in DC If Daniel got a pension and he was not married, it would go to his mother. As your post suggest, his father had died. I will look about some more.
